Thermal damage to red cells.

چکیده
Erythrocytes from a burned patient show a temporal sequence of morphological changes. Immediate severe changes occur which are followed by a transient phase only of less abnormal morphology. Heating whole blood in vitro to 49 degrees C instead of 50 degrees C does not show the expected dose response curve. Heating whole blood in vitro to 50 degrees C induces progressive morphological changes. Fractionation of whole blood and subsequent heating to 48 degrees C show the older cells to be less deformable.

Review of mechanisms and recent advances in cancer photo thermal therapy
Abstract. Cancer is a major health problem all over the world. Photo thermal therapy (PTT) is a non-invasive method in cancer treatment. In PTT, the laser light usually in near-infra red region is absorbed and converted to heat in the cancerous tissue. The temperature above 40 ° C in PTT can induce some effects including irreversible damage to proteins, changes in enzyme struc...
متن کاملCell damaging by irradiating non-thermal plasma to the water: Mathematical modeling of chemical processes
Recently non-thermal plasma (NTP) is applied for many therapeutic applications. By NTP irradiating to the tissues or cell-lines, the water molecules (H2O) would be also activated leading to generate hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). By irradiating plasma to bio-solution, its main output including vacuum UV to UV causes the photolysis of H2O leading to generat...
متن کاملEffect of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma on MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells
Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) has received great attention due to its noteworthy ability, and has also been widely studied over few decades in physics, biology and medicine. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cold atmospheric pressure plasma effects on the proliferation of breast cancer cells. MDA-MB-231 was used for this experiment. MDA-MB-231 cells were cultured in 24-well plate and...
متن کاملBlue Diode and Red He-Ne Lasers Affect the Growth of Anthocyanin Producing Suspension Cells of Apple
Light is an effective factor in cell suspension culture and must be controlled for optimizing cell growth. Growth of anthocyanin producing suspension cells of a red-fleshed genotype of apple (RFA) was assessed in response to blue diode laser (BDL) and red He Ne (RHNL) laser. The suspension cells in L-shaped test tubes were exposed to short-term laser radiation for 20 min in a rotary shaker. The...
متن کاملHigh-temperature Disruption of Guard Cells of Vicia faba: EFFECT ON STOMATAL APERTURE.
Increased variability in stomatal aperture at high temperatures can be attributed, in part, to the differential sensitivity of guard cells to thermal damage. Individual stomata become increasingly open at higher temperatures until guard cells are lethally damaged; at that temperature, apertures decrease. The extent of irreversible damage causing closure was estimated by K(+) uptake, neutral red...
متن کاملThe protective role of glycyrrhizin on ethanol- damaged B92 glial cells in vitro
Background and Purpose: Glycyrrhizin is one of the most important pharmacological compounds of the Licorice plant. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effects of glycyrrhizin on the B92 glial cells after treatment with ethanol. Materials and Methods: B92 cells were obtained from the Pasteur institute cell bank of Iran, (1×106 cell/ml) were transferred to 96 plates and in...
